A note from Kenny:
Early morning devotions are good for me. They're good for everyone.

It was while I was enjoying my early morning devotional time that I read the story of Nicodemus. He knew a great deal about God, the Law and living accordingly. He knew nothing about a holy relationship.

The next morning's reading was just one page (chapter) over. This time the same Christ who'd just had a weird conversation with really righteous Nic was talking to a pretty pathetic Samaritan woman.

Same God - two completely different people. But the epiphany during my early morning devotional time came when I realized that Jesus basically said the same thing to both people. The head of the religious order and the butt of the town's jokes received the same word from God.

Nic, don't let your zeal to be righteous, your knowledge of scripture and God be the thing that keeps you from a relationship with Him.

Woman of Samaria, don't let your sin, your shame or your bad reputation be the thing that separates you from the God who loves you in your shame.

For us today, He says the same thing. "Whoever, whatever, wherever you are: Don't let who you are keep you away."
