Kenny Bishop Nominated for a GRAMMY

LEXINGTON, KY— Daywind Records recording artist Kenny Bishop was among those listed as a finalist when the nominees for the 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards were announced today in Hollywood.

Bishop's self-titled solo release was nominated in the Best Southern, Country, or Bluegrass Gospel Album category. Other nominees are Alan Jackson, Randy Travis, the Gaither Vocal Band and the Del McCoury Band.

"This recording is simply a reflection of my passion for the message of grace and forgiveness at every level," Bishop said. "I'd never, ever have imagined it would receive such an honor. I am truly, truly humbled and grateful."

Bishop currently serves as executive director of the Governor's Mansion at the state capitol in Frankfort, Kentucky. Governor Ernie Fletcher expressed his own congratulations to Bishop in a statement released shortly after the nominations were announced.

“Glenna and I were extremely excited when we received the news from Kenny that he has been nominated for a GRAMMY award,” the governor said. “But we aren’t surprised – Kenny’s talent and faith are evident in all that he does. We are proud of Kenny and all that he has accomplished.”

The 49th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on February 11, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast on CBS from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
