Kenny Bishop Listed on Billboard Critic's Choice Top Ten Lists
NASHVILLE, TN - Staff and contributing writers at Billboard
Magazine recently submitted their top ten favorite albums,
singles and musical events for 2006 in the publication's annual
Year In Music edition. Two of the staffers and writers placed
Kenny's self-titled Daywind recording on their lists, with
one listing the recording in the number one slot.
"I
continue to be amazed, honored and thrilled at the opportunities
this album has afforded me," Bishop said. "The Gospel,
which is the message of grace without exception, cannot leave
you unaffected."
Billboard
Nashville Chart Manager Wade Jessen listed Bishop's first
solo effort at the number four position, ahead of such artists
as George Jones, Merle Haggard, Alan Jackson, Josh Turner
and the McKameys. Jessen said of Bishop's recording, "Kenny
reminds us that pulpits, steeples and pews have precious little
to do with true redemption and mercy."
Deborah
Evans Price, who is a contributing writer to Billboard Magazine
and web site placed the recording in the number one spot,
calling it "a compelling collection of songs about grace
and mercy from an artist who has lived every line." Rounding
out Price's list are Tracy Byrd, Bob Seger, the Oak Ridge
Boys, Skillet, MercyMe, Alan Jackson, Newsboys, Alan Jackson,
Brian Littrell, Bowling For Soup, Mark Schultz and others.
"There
are so many gifted artists, so many amazing songs, there is
so much talent and endless ways to express our stories and
faith," said Bishop. "To be recognized among some
of the most notable, even legendary names in music is a tremendous
honor that I am very grateful for. I'll so my best to honor
the God who has allowed me the tremendous opportunity to be
among them.
The
Billboard Magazine's Critics Choice edition (Dec. 23rd edition)
