Kenny Bishop Featured in Country Weekly Magazine
NASHVILLE, TN— The current issue of Country Weekly Magazine is on the stands now, and includes a full page feature on Southern Gospel recording artist Kenny Bishop. The piece touts his decision to return to the studio and stage.

Bishop says he is enjoying the extra attention these days, mostly due to his recent Grammy nomination for Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Recording, mainly because of the unusual opportunities it has created.

"I've just been amazed at the interest that so many reporters and news agencies have shown in my music and career," Bishop said. "Sharing my purpose and motivation with such mainstream audiences has been a real answer to my prayers and hopes."

In the story, CW writer Bob Paxon describes the initial conversation Bishop had with Kentucky Governor Ernie Fletcher that eventually led to his decision to sing again. Bishop currently serves as Executive Director of Kentucky's Governor's Mansion.

"The Governor knew that I'd made my mistakes and found my way back to faith. It was his compassion for me and his very real desire for others to see that prodigals do return that encouraged me to consider and eventually make the record."

The recording Bishop is referring to is his 2006 self-titled release on Daywind Records. The themed recording features what Bishop calls, "ten amazing songs about grace."

"My hope all along has been to find the not-so-typical avenues and speak to those who may not be tuned in to hear or read about heaven or salvation. I know these opportunities to share my story of faith, failure and faith again with mainline audiences are valuable and not to be taken lightly."

Besides the current Country Weekly feature, Bishop's story has also been told in Billboard Magazine, USA Today, the Associated Press, and several other television, radio and print publications across the US.

The Grammy Awards will be presented in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 11th, and broadcast live on CBS television.
