Kenny Bishop Nominated for two Dove Awards
NASHVILLE, TN When the Gospel Music Association announced
the nominees for the 38th Annual GMA Dove Awards today, Daywind
recording artist Kenny Bishop garnered two of them for songs
from his first solo recording.
The
nominations are for; Southern Gospel Recorded Song of the
Year: The Prodigal's Dad written by Jeff Steele, and
Country Recorded Song of the Year: Don't Let Who You Are
Keep You Away written by Kenny Bishop.
"Knowing
the intense thought, prayer and process that went into the
song selection for this recording, it is especially encouraging
to see how these lyrics are reaching and touching so many,"
Kenny said. "Both of these songs reveal my motive and
commitment to telling the Gospel truth about grace."
"Jeff
Steele has been a remarkable writer for years," Kenny
continued. "Talking with him lately and hearing his passion
for reaching farther and deeper than he's ever done before
reminds me of why God continues to use his gift."
Kenny
just returned from Los Angeles where he was nominated for
a GRAMMY Award for Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel
Album. Country artist Randy Travis took home the honor.
"I'm
certainly humbled beyond words, and feel short on ways to
express my gratitude and appreciation to everyone who had
anything to do with these tremendous honors," Kenny said.
Today's
announcement was made at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel by
Flow Records Juanita Bynum, Reunion Records Brian
Littrell and comedian Thor Ramsey. Littrell will co-host the
38th Annual GMA Dove Awards with Curb recording artist Natalie
Grant and Verity Records Donnie McClurkin on April 25th
at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville.
