KENNY BISHOP NOMINATED FOR DIAMOND AWARD
LEXINGTON, KY - The Top 10 ballot for the 2008
SGN Scoops Diamond Awards were announced recently. Among the
nominees in the Soloist of the Year category is Christian
recording artist Kenny Bishop.
"I
received word of the nomination in an email a week or so ago,"
Bishop said. "I feel tremendously honored by the recognition,
and I'm delighted that songs about God's fantastic grace and
mercy are getting through. That's what this has to be about.
It's all I sing about these days."
SGN
Scoops editor Allen Smith says the turn out for the nominations
was strong. "Our top ten ballot looks really great! Thank
you to everyone who placed a vote for your favorites. Now
it's time to vote for the top ten finalists."
Other
nominees in the category include Jason Crabb, Kirk Talley,
Ivan Parker, Tony Gore and others, including Bishop's older
brother and fellow solo artist Mark Bishop.
"Mark
is ten times the singer, songwriter and communicator I could
ever be," said Kenny Bishop. "His ability to assemble
a melody, put a complete and heart provoking thought into
a three minute message - repeats and all - is more than an
ordinary gift. There are a lot of great singers on the nominees
list. I'm not sure I deserve to be among them. I'll ask all
of my friends to cast their vote for the one closest to me.
Like all of the others, I think my brother certainly deserves
it."
According
to the Diamond Awards web site, the final nominees will be
chosen from the top ten ballot. The voting deadline is May
17, 2008. The awards will be handed out in Louisville, Kentucky
during the National Quartet Convention.
